Wingstop Cajun Fried Corn

Wingstop’s famous Cajun Fried Corn but let’s make it at home and even better! It’s the easiest appetizer you can make that takes corn on the cob to levels unthinkable!

I’m sure not the only one who has seen all the mukbang videos on Tiktok of everyone eating the cajun fried corn from Wingstop. I definitely was influenced to try and although it was amazing as a corn lover myself, it couldn’t be easier to make it on your own at home. It’s packed with so much spice from the cajun seasoning blend and the best way to enjoy is with ranch and parmesan for dipping in. Let’s make it!

The Cajun Butter

Before we even get to the corn, we are going to prepare the cajun butter which is where all the flavor will come from. The cajun seasoning offers this nice salty almost spicy taste that compliments the natural sweetness of the corn so well. This is everything you need:

  • unsalted butter, melted
  • chopped parsley
  • minced garlic
  • lemon juice
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • cajun seasoning
  • onion powder
  • paprika
  • dried basil

Just add all the ingredients above to a small mixing bowl and mix together well. Set aside. Feel free to add red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper if you like it spicier.

Prepping and Frying the Corn

For the corn, you want to use yellow sweet corn. The sweeter the better! Avoid getting white corn or speckled corn if you want it to be an exact duplicate of Wingstop. You can use frozen corn or fresh corn on the cob. Fresh will be better because the water in the frozen corn can make it a bit difficult to fry. If you end up using frozen, just make sure you let it thaw out really well and use a clean kitchen towel or napkins to pat dry it very well.

Once you have your corn, cut it into small sections, about 1 to 1.5 inches tall. Make sure you have a sharpened knife for this task to avoid any difficulty or accidentally hurting yourself.

Now it’s time to fry the corn! We’ll be deep-frying the corn since this is a copycat recipe. If you want to make this lighter, you can always of course just spray the corn with oil and air fry it instead.

Add vegetable oil to a deep frying pan over medium heat. Let the oil get hot around 325°F to 350°F. Add the corn to the hot oil and fry until golden and crispy. Flip over to the other side if needed depending on how much oil you added. Let any excess oil drain out before adding it to a large bowl and tossing it together with the seasoned butter. And that’s it!

My favorite way to enjoy them is with some ranch and parmesan for dipping but feel free to use your favorite dipping sauce!

Ingredients

  • 4 corn on the cobs, cut into 4 sections each (1 to 1.5 inches thick)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons cajun seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, add more to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, optional
  • vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. To a bowl, add melted butter, parsley, garlic, cajun seasoning, salt, black pepper, onion powder, dried basil, paprika, and lemon juice. Mix together well and set aside.
  2. Cut each corn on the cob into around 4 sections. Each piece should be about 1 to 1.5 inches thick.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F.
  4. Add the corn in, making sure not to overcrowd them. Fry until golden on one side and then flip over to get the other side golden.
  5. Remove from the oil and drain any excess oil to transfer in a large bowl.
  6. Add the seasoned butter to the bowl and toss all together.
  7. Serve with ranch and parmesan to enjoy!
Tips & Notes
Cajun seasoning has salt already so add salt as needed depending on the cajun blend you use because every single one will be different.
