Bang Bang Chicken Skewers
Bang Bang Chicken Skewers in the air fryer and in under 30 minutes! This easy and healthy dinner packs so much flavor from the creamy bang bang sauce that’s a bit spicy and a bit sweet. Serve it with rice and some steamed broccoli for the complete meal!

The Bang Bang Sauce
Bang bang sauce is one of my favorite sauces or condiments. It’s both tangy and sweet with just a slight kick from the chili! Here are all the ingredients you need:
- mayonnaise
- sweet chili sauce
- minced garlic
- rice vinegar
- sriracha
- chopped parsley
- red pepper flakes, optional
To a bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sriracha, chopped parsley, and red pepper flakes until you have a super smooth sauce. Set aside when it’s done. This sauce is not only delicious drizzled on top of these skewers but also so good if you toss some wings in it, fried chicken or shrimp, or even as a dip for egg rolls or rangoons.
Making The Skewers
Let’s start with the marinade first! The marinade is pretty simple and honestly makes the chicken so good as is without the bang bang sauce. The sauce does not get added until after cooking. Here’s everything you need for the marinade:
- low sodium soy sauce
- oyster sauce
- garlic paste
- ginger paste
- chili powder
- smoked paprika
- red pepper flakes
- salt
- black pepper
- brown sugar
Just chop some boneless skinless chicken thighs and add to a bowl with all the ingredients above and mix all together well. Thread onto skewers, adding as much or as little chicken as you like to every skewer. Pop in the air fryer to roast at 400°F for 13 to 15 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked, golden, crispy, and charred. Add a drizzle of the bang bang sauce on top of each skewer and finish off with some chopped green onions to enjoy.
Serving Bang Bang Chicken
My favorite way to enjoy these skewers is with steamed jasmine rice and veggies like broccoli. You can also have it with coconut rice if you want to be a bit more fancy. I also love making a salad to eat with it. The salad has cabbage, carrots, butter lettuce, cucumber, green onions, cilantro, sesame seeds, wonton strips, and a sweet and spicy peanut dressing. However you eat it, these bang bang chicken skewers will be so good, that it becomes a dinner on repeat.

Dinner | Main Course
Bang Bang Chicken Skewers
Ingredients
CHICKEN MARINADE- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon garlic paste
- 2 teaspoons ginger paste
- 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sriracha, more to taste
- 1/2 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional for more spice
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer or oven to 450°F.
- In a small bowl, make the bang bang sauce. Combine mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, garlic, rice vinegar, sriracha, and parsley until smooth. Set aside.
- To a bowl, add the chopped chicken along with soy sauce, olive oil, oyster sauce, garlic, ginger, chili powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and light brown sugar. Mix together and if you have the time, let it marinate for 30 minutes.
- After marinating, thread the chicken pieces onto skewers. If using wooden skewers, make sure they have soaked in water for 30 minutes to prevent them from burning. I like to add about 6 to 7 pieces onto each skewer.
- Add the skewers to the air fryer and air fry for about 13 to 15 minutes at 450°F until fully cooked and charred.
- Drizzle bang bang sauce on top and add green onions to enjoy.
This was sooo flavorful! I don’t have an air fryer, so I baked the skewers @ 400 for 20 minutes, they turned out perfect!
