4 Sauces – Meal Prep

Food is always better with sauce so let’s meal prep four sauces that you can keep in the fridge at all times! You can make one, two, three, or all four at once depending on how much you love sauce. There’s a sauce here for everyone to love so no more dry sandwiches or rice bowls!

Cilantro Jalapeño Crema

This vibrant green sauce that’s spicy yet refreshing is a household favorite for my family! My mom loves it so much I had to teach her how to make it before I moved out. It takes less than 5 minutes to prepare all in a food processor or blender. I love making this sauce when I have a bunch of cilantro that is starting to wilt! No food waste here when it’s so easy to repurpose ingredients.

Here are all the ingredients you need:

  • mayonnaise
  • plain yoghurt
  • cilantro
  • jalapeños
  • cumin
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • garlic cloves
  • lime juice

Just add all the ingredients above to a food processor or blender and combine until smooth. If you like it spicy, leave the seeds in the jalapenos which is how I like to make it. If you want it mild, remove the seeds.

WHAT TO PAIR IT WITH

My favorite way to enjoy this is as a spread in sandwiches. It adds so much flavor! You can also use it in tacos with steak or chicken. Another favorite pairing of mine is with tandoori chicken in a wrap or rice bowl. This also works as a delicious salad dressing!

Honey Mustard BBQ Sauce

My favorite sauce at Chick-fil-A is the honey mustard BBQ sauce so I had to learn how to make it at home and even better! When I say I always have a bowl of this sitting in my fridge, I’m not lying. I love using it in chicken wraps, fried chicken sandwiches, and also in breakfast burritos/sandwiches.

Here is what you need:

  • mayonnaise
  • yellow mustard
  • BBQ sauce
  • honey
  • lemon juice
  • onion powder
  • paprika
  • turmeric
  • garlic power

Add all the ingredients above to a bowl and mix together until smooth. The final product is a deep yellow color that’s a bit sweet and a bit tangy. My personal favorite BBQ sauce to use is the Sweet Baby Ray’s brand.

WHAT TO PAIR IT WITH

I love making Chick-fil-A copycat sandwiches at home with pickles, brioche buns, and fried chicken patties. You could also turn it into wraps! I always whip up Caesar salad wraps too with crispy chicken and the honey BBQ sauce makes for the best dip.

Chipotle Aioli

This chipotle aioli is my husband’s favorite sauce! I genuinely make it once a week and it’s incredibly east to whip up.

You can buy a can of chipotle peppers in adobo paste from most major supermarkets in the international food aisle. Depending on the store you go to, there will be different brands. Any will do but my fave brand is Embasa! I only use the adobo paste in the can for this recipe but if you would like it to be spicy, you can add the whole can to a blender and then add it in to make the sauce.

Just combine all the ingredients listed above in a bowl and mix together until smooth. The sauce is super creamy, a bit spicy and smokey, tangy from the lime juice, and a little sweet from the honey.

WHAT TO PAIR IT WITH

I always have chipotle aioli on hand in the fridge because we eat it practically almost every single day for breakfast! It takes any plain old breakfast sandwich or burrito into the most delicious creation. You could even make breakfast sliders with this!

Another way to utilize this chipotle aioli is in Chipotle copycat bowls with cilantro lime rice, chicken or steak, and all your favorite veggies and beans. You could also use this as a spread in a 10/10 deli sandwich!

Halal Cart White Sauce

There is nothing more synonymous with halal cart bowls than the white sauce they drown the meat and rice in! It’s actually super easy to make at home in less than 5 minutes and in a blender. Here are all the ingredients you need:

  • mayonnaise
  • sour cream or plain yogurt
  • garlic cloves
  • sugar
  • lemon juice
  • black pepper

Add all the ingredients above to a blender or food processor and combine until completely smooth and you have a thick sauce with specks of black pepper everywhere. Feel free to add as little or as much garlic as you’d like depending on your taste.

If you want to make this lighter, you can swap the sour cream for plain yogurt or use light mayo.

NOTE: Another variation of white sauce that I love to make is using the garlic spread from Trader Joe’s which is basically just toum. I combine toum with mayo or yogurt and add a bit more lemon juice, sugar, black pepper, and a bit of water to thin it out and there you have it!

WHAT TO PAIR IT WITH

The best way to enjoy white sauce is in Halal Cart bowls with chicken or lamb shawarma. You can also make shawarma wraps instead of rice bowls if that’s more your style.

This goes well with any sort of BBQ too like chicken skewers or kefta!
