Coffee Syrups – Two Ways

There’s nothing like a cozy, homemade syrup to elevate your coffee game, especially during the fall season. Today, I’m sharing two of my absolute favorite syrups: Maple Pumpkin Sauce and Brown Sugar Vanilla Bean Syrup. These syrups are easy to make, incredibly delicious, and will make your coffee feel like a special treat every day. Let’s dive into how to create these delightful additions to your morning routine!

Maple Pumpkin Sauce

If you love the taste of fall, this Maple Pumpkin Sauce is going to be your new best friend. Start by grabbing a saucepan and combining water, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and brown sugar over medium heat. Stir everything together until the sugar has completely dissolved and you have a smooth mixture. Next, add a good amount of pumpkin spice and a bit of cinnamon. The spices will bring that warm, cozy flavor we all crave during the fall months.

Let the mixture simmer gently, giving it a stir every now and then. You’ll know it’s ready when it has thickened to a lovely, syrupy consistency and the kitchen smells like autumn in a bottle. Once you’re happy with the consistency, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in some vanilla extract. This final touch adds a wonderful depth of flavor.

Let the sauce cool slightly before transferring it to a jar. Store it in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 weeks and whenever you want a coffee, add a few pumps to your coffee. Trust me, you’re going to love this one.

Brown Sugar Vanilla Bean Syrup

For those who love a rich, aromatic sweetness, the Brown Sugar Vanilla Bean Syrup is a must-try. Start by combining brown sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring continuously to ensure the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture is smooth.

Once the sugar is fully dissolved, reduce the heat and add a generous spoonful of vanilla bean paste. Stir well to incorporate the vanilla throughout the syrup. Let it simmer for a few minutes to thicken slightly and infuse with that incredible vanilla flavor.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the syrup to cool before pouring it into a bottle or jar. This syrup adds a rich, caramel-like sweetness with a hint of vanilla to your coffee. You can also make brown sugar shaken espressos at home now with this!

Tips, Tricks, and Variations

Here are a few tips and tricks to make your syrup-making experience even better:

  • Storage: Both syrups can be stored on the countertops for up to a week or two. I recommend storing them in the refrigerator though especially after a week just to be extra safe. Just give them a good shake before using.
  • Consistency: If you prefer a thicker syrup, let it simmer a bit longer. For a thinner consistency, add a splash more water.
  • Spice Level: Adjust the amount of pumpkin spice or vanilla bean paste to suit your taste. Feel free to experiment with other spices like nutmeg or cloves in the Maple Pumpkin Sauce.
  • Use Beyond Coffee: These syrups are not just for coffee! Drizzle them over pancakes, waffles, or even ice cream for an extra special treat.
  • Gifting: These syrups make fantastic homemade gifts. Pour them into cute bottles, add a label, and you’ve got a thoughtful, delicious present.

There you have it—two simple, delightful syrups that will bring the flavors of fall right to your coffee cup. Enjoy making and sharing these recipes with your loved ones, and let the cozy season begin! Happy sipping!
