Garlic Noodles with Teriyaki Chicken
Garlic noodles with teriyaki chicken is the ultimate comfort dish bursting with so much umami flavor! From the creamy butter sauce coating the udon to the sweet and savory teriyaki sauce glazing the BBQ chicken, it is absolute perfection from start to finish. Inspired by one of my favorite restaurants in Orange County, I hope you love this as much as I do if not more!

Making the Teriyaki Chicken
One of my go-to easy dinners I come back to every single week is teriyaki chicken. It never fails to impress and it’s just so easy to make. I typically make a batch of teriyaki sauce in advance and just keep it in the fridge whenever I’m craving it. I highly recommend this hack if you fancy it as much as I do. Here are all the ingredients you need for teriyaki sauce:
- sesame oil
- low-sodium soy sauce
- rice vinegar
- brown sugar
- black pepper
- minced garlic
- ginger paste
- water + cornstarch
Here are the ingredients you need for the chicken marinade:
- chicken thighs, boneless & skinless
- olive oil or avocado oil
- smoked paprika
- onion powder
- salt
- black pepper
- red pepper flakes
The Garlic Noodles
Garlic Noodles are one of my husband’s favorite dishes so it was very important for me to perfect the dish! It is so easy to make, you only need a handful of ingredients, and it takes about 10 minutes to make if you’re a speedster like me. The dish is also super versatile – you could keep it vegetarian, serve it with chicken, or even opt for steak! Here is everything you need:
- cooked udon noodles
- butter
- garlic
- soy sauce
- oyster sauce
- heavy cream
- parmesan
- salt
- black pepper
- white sugar
Start by melting down some butter in a pan and saute some garlic in until fragrant and toasted. Add in soy sauce, oyster sauce, heavy cream, parmesan, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Mix together well and bring to a simmer over medium heat until it thickens slightly. Taste it to make sure it’s to your liking and there you have creamy garlic butter suace in 5 minutes.
Let’s talk noodles now! My favorite noodles to use are udon noodles because they’re thick and super chewy. I just buy them from the international aisle in the grocery store and they come in precooked packages. I just flash-cook them a bit more in boiled water to make them extra chewy and soft. Feel free to use any noodles you like for this recipe though. You are not limited to udon. You can use spaghetti, bucatini, chow mein, or any sort of Asian noodles you fancy.
Once you flash boil the noodles, add them to the garlic butter sauce and toss all around to coat each nood evenly.

- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan
- dash of salt, to taste
- black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- green onions, chopped

Instructions
MAKE THE TERIYAKI CHICKEN
- To a bowl, add the chicken thighs and season with chili powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and olive oil.
- Mix together to marinade evenly and set aside.
- To another bowl or measuring cup, add the ingredients for the teriyaki sauce: sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, black pepper, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Whisk together well.
- Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken thighs in, making sure not to crowd them.
- Sear on one side for 2 to 3 minutes and then flip over and repeat. Then drop the heat to medium or medium-low for 2 to 3 minutes again just until the chicken is fully cooked in the center.
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the pan.
- To the same pan, add in the teriyaki sauce. Bring to a soft boil and then drop the heat to simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Mix together the cornstarch with water to make a slurry and add it to the pan. Stir together until the teriyaki sauce thickens.
- Add the chicken back in and fully coat in the teriyaki sauce on both sides. Take off the heat.
GARLIC NOODLES
- Heat a pan over medium heat and add the butter.
- Once melted, add in the minced garlic and saute for 2 to 3 minutes until fragrant and toasted.
- Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, cream, parmesan, salt, black pepper, and white sauce. Mix together well.
- Toss in the noodles to fully coat the udon in the butter sauce.
- Plate the noodles with chicken on top and finish off with a garnish of green onions and sesame seeds to enjoy.

This recipe is insanely good. I prepped everything the best I could earlier in the day which made throwing it all together in the evening quick and easy. Will be making this again.. probably this week! Yum!
This recipe is insanely flavorful. I replaced the chicken with flank steak and it was perfection. 10/10
Wow, I was quite nervous to make this as I’m a complete beginner but it was actually really simple (my kitchen is so messy though😂). I was lazy and used ready made teriyaki sauce but followed everything else… the spices on the chicken are fab and the garlic butter noodles WOW!!! I only got 2 servings out of this so just FYI if you’re trying to meal prep
Made this last night and followed the recipe exactly minus a few tweaks on the teriyaki sauce (only cos I had what I had in the kitchen) other than that, it was amazing!!! Hubby said it was a 20/10!!! It’s a dinner favourite:) thanks for the recipe
This is hands down my boyfriend’s absolute favourite recipe, he begs me to make it at least once a week! So so delicious, it’s become a staple in our house!
This is seriously one of my favorite and most flavorful dishes I have ever made. I have made multiple recipes on your site and they are all so simple as far as ingredients go to make, yet delicious. However, this one was particularly exceptional— I made this for dinner tonight and my husband and I could not stop talking about how good it was. I hope you keep publishing new recipes because you are so talented!
Wow 🤩 just made this and it turned out great! Thank you 🙏🏻
Just made this recipe and it was delicious! So quick to make, will be making this again!! *chef kiss*
Fantastic recipe! I’ve made numerous Teriyaki sauce recipes and have always been disappointed with their flavors. This one delivers perfectly! What a great combo of spices for the chicken, the teriyaki, everything! Thank you for this fabulous, and easy, recipe!

I made it lactose free. This is my new favorite recipe with noodles
