BBQ Salmon Tacos

These salmon tacos take all the flavors of a delicious summer BBQ and pack it into the most delicious taco. It’s the perfect weeknight dinner to make in under 30 minutes and the air fryer does all the work. The salmon turns out flakey in the center, crispy on the outside, and the flavor is both smokey and sweet!

How to Make the Salmon

The best part about this recipe is that it all gets done in an air-fryer! I always get requests from you to make more air-fryer recipes and I’ve been using it a lot more in my home these last few months so get ready for more. Now if you’ve never tried making salmon before in the air-fryer you’ve been missing out. It turns out so flakey and moist in the center while the edges crisp up and almost caramelize. It also gets done in just 7 minutes so dinner is ready quick!

To marinate the salmon, you’ll need:

  • salmon, skin removed and cubed
  • olive oil
  • onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • chili powder
  • salt
  • oregano
  • smoked paprika
  • cumin
  • coriander
  • black pepper
  • BBQ sauce

Just combine the salmon with the olive oil and all the spices but save the BBQ sauce for later. Once the salmon is marinated, spray the air fryer tray/basket and add the salmon. Make sure the pieces are spaced apart. Cook at 400°F for about 7 minutes. After 7 minutes, open the air fryer and brush with barbecue sauce all over. Feel free to use your favorite BBQ sauce – it’s all up to you. My personal favorite is the Sweet Baby Ray’s Original BBQ Sauce. Air fry for 1 to 2 more minutes depending how done you want your salmon. Just make sure not to overcook the salmon or else it won’t be soft and flakey.

Then all that’s left to do is assemble!

The Tacos

To prepare this salmon as a meal, we’ll be turning them into tacos. But they’re absolutely delicious also in a rice bowl or salad!

For the tacos, you can add the following options:

Feel free to use corn or flour tortillas for the tacos and that’s it!

Tips & Notes
This recipe pairs perfectly with a cilantro jalapeño sauce. Instead of plain yogurt though, I would swap it for sour cream.
