Elote Hot Dogs

Elote meets hot dogs in the most delicious fusion of flavors, making for the perfect barbecue recipe that everyone will love! It’s bursting with smokey, sweet, and salty spice that is just too good.

If you’re not familiar with elote, it is the most delicious Mexican grilled street corn on the cob that is slathered in mayo, chili powder, lime juice, cotija, and cilantro. The flavors are just incredible and since summer is all about grilling (and hot dogs are my favorite thing to grill and eat), there truly is no better combo than this!

The Elote

It’s super simple to make and is absolutely delicious on its own, but in these hot dogs, it is next level. This is also actually called Equites when served in a cup instead of the cob fun fact!

HERE ARE ALL THE INGREDIENTS YOU WILL NEED:
  • grilled corn on the cob
  • mayonnaise
  • sour cream
  • lime juice
  • cotija
  • chili powder
  • cilantro

Just combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and mix together.

I love adding grilled corn instead of regular corn and it adds a nice charred flavor but this is optional!

If you’d like it spicy, just add a little bit of cayenne power or hot sauce to taste. You can also add garlic if you’d like and feel free to use Mexican crema instead of sour cream for a thinner consistency. You can also omit the sour cream and only use mayo for a more rich taste.

Assembling

For the rest of the recipe, just throw some hot dogs on the grill until they have a nice char and toast some buns as well. Add the hot dogs to the bun and top it off with the elote! Feel free to add avocado, lettuce, more cotija, cilantro, jalapeño sauce, sour cream, or more lime juice! The possibilities are endless and all delicious.
