MATCHA CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
MAKE THE DOUGH
In a large mixing bowl, add the warm milk and sprinkle the yeast over the top. If using active dry yeast, cover and let it proof for 10 minutes until foamy.
Add the eggs, melted butter, and white sugar to the milk and yeast mixture. Whisk until smooth.
Add in the flour, salt, and matcha powder. Mix using a stand mixer with a dough hook or a wooden spoon until a soft and elastic dough forms—about 6 minutes. The dough should be slightly sticky; if needed, add a tablespoon of flour or a splash of milk to adjust the texture.
Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size—about 1 hour.
MAKE THE FILLING
In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.
ASSEMBLE THE ROLLS
Lightly flour your work surface and roll the dough out into a 12 x 18 inch rectangle.
Spread the softened butter evenly over the surface of the dough.
Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the butter and press it gently into the dough.
Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log.
Slice the log into 12 even pieces.
Place the rolls into a greased 9 x 13 baking pan.
Cover and let the rolls rise again for 30 to 40 minutes, until puffy.
MAKE THE MATCHA CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
While the rolls bake, beat together the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, matcha powder, and vanilla bean paste until smooth and fluffy.
BAKE
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Once risen, bake the rolls for 21 to 22 minutes until golden brown on top and cooked through.
Once baked, let the rolls cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
Spread the matcha frosting generously over the warm rolls and serve immediately!
