Yields12 donuts
Servings12 donuts

Ingredients

  • 12 yeast dinner rolls, Rhodes brand recommended
  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Start by making the cinnamon sugar. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. On a baking tray lined with parchment paper, add the dinner rolls making sure they are spaced apart. You can arrange them in four rows of three.
  3. Allow the rolls to thaw and rise for about 3 to 4 hours in a warm place.
  4. Heat a few inches of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 325°F.
  5. Once the oil is hot, drop the dough in batches so they're not crowded. Fry on each side until golden, about 2 minutes, and then flip over for the other side.
  6. Take out of the oil using a slotted spoon to drain any excess oil and then roll it in the cinnamon sugar.
  7. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • Rhodes has a visual display here of how to let them thaw!
  • A quick way to thaw and rise the rolls is to warm up a over on the lowest temperature setting. Then turn off the oven and add the tray in.
